Typango Documentation

Starting Typango |
The Typango setup program places a shortcut to
Typango on the main PocketPC menu, the Desktop, and in the Programs folder.
Hardware keys can also be reassigned to launch Typango automatically. Any of the more advanced methods will require the path to the Typango program. Typango is located in: \\Program Files\Typango\Typango.exe
|
||
Normal Typing |
When Typango is started, the full screen
keyboard should appear on the screen. The PocketPC needs to be rotated 90
degrees to see the keyboard properly. Pressing the buttons on the keyboard enters text into Typango or controls the operation of Typango. As text is entered, it will appear in the display area at the top of the keyboard. Single capital letters are entered by first pressing the [Shift]
key, then the desired letter. The light on the [Shift] key should
come on when it is pressed. The shift key is automatically turned off after
the Capital letter is typed. Punctuation marks are entered by first pressing the [Fn] key then typing any punctuation mark in green located between the normal keys. The [Fn] light will come on when it is selected and will automatically turn off after the punctuation is entered. Pressing [Enter] or [Tab] key types in a graphical symbol
representing the Enter and Tab. This method allows the text display area to
remain a single line that scrolls left and right not up and down. |

Correcting Mistakes |
An input cursor
Pressing the [delete] key will erase the character immediately to the left of the input cursor. The input cursor can be scrolled through the text by pressing the left and right buttons left and right located in the text display area. Some PocketPCs have a jog dial control. This control can be used to scroll the input cursor through the text as well. Most PocketPCs have a hardware cursor control pad. This pad can be used to move the cursor forward and backwards by pressing the cursor pad left or right. Pressing up or down on the cursor pad will scroll the input cursor to the front or back of the text buffer. Some mistakes may require text to be cut, copied, or pasted. These mistakes can be corrected in the Preview Mode.

||
Preview Mode
|
Pressing the [ok]
button on the full screen keyboard will activate Preview mode.Pressing the [Type] button from preview mode will activate the full screen keyboard. From preview mode, the text can be cut, copied, pasted or cleared to
arrange it as desired. Text is selected in preview mode by Clicking and drag over a section. Once text has been selected it can be cut or copied out of the buffer which places it on the clipboard.
If there is no selection when the Cut, Copy, or Clear button is selected then the entire buffer will be Cut, Copied, or Cleared. The [Undo] button will undo the last Cut, Copy, Paste, or Clear command. However, the [Undo] button will be reset when switching in and out of full screen mode. If the input cursor is moved in Preview mode by touching any of the text then that is the location of the input cursor when the [Type] button is selected to switch to full screen mode.
|
||
Transferring Text To and From Other Programs |
When the [Exit] button is pressed from
the Preview mode, all the text in the buffer is automatically sent to the
Clipboard and Typango is closed. To transfer text to another application the program must be activated or launched first. Once it is launched, pressing the Paste option from the edit menu will paste in whatever was placed on the Clipboard by Typango when it exited.
To transfer text the other direction place it on the clipboard by selecting the Cut or Copy edit command. When Typango is launched it automatically goes into full screen keyboard mode and has the current contents of the clipboard loaded in the text area. To transfer information to Excel place tabs between cells and Enters between rows.

Using Skins |
Pressing the [Skin] button from the
Preview screen will display the skin selection dialog box. This will show the names of all Typango skins currently available. If the Skin is on a Storage Card that will be displayed as well. A skin is selected by double clicking it. It can also be selected by clicking the name of the desired skin once and pressing the [OK] button. Once a skin is selected, Typango will automatically return to full screen keyboard mode. If no skin change is desired the [Cancel] button can be selected. Skins are small files with a .tsk extension residing in the \My Documents folder in main memory and on the Storage card. Typango remembers the current skin and will use it until another skin is selected or the skin file is deleted. If Typango can't find the currently selected skin then it will use the built in default keyboard. Typango may not be able to find the selected skin if it was deleted or it is on a storage card that has been removed from the PocketPC.
